The Bradford City Water Authority has lifted the Boil Water Advisory, effective immediately. All water samples collected and tested following state-mandated DEP guidance were returned safe as sampled. The testing was necessary after a large water main break on November 22. Water authority Executive Director Kim Benjamin says the authority "appreciates the cooperation and patience of all water system customers throughout this process of restoring water storage levels to normal, and assisting us in assuring that the public health of our customers was protected." http://bradfordwater.com

Because of the water main break in the city, and low water pressure, Bradford Area Schools are closing early today. School and GGB will dismiss at 10:30 a.m.; Fretz and 12:30 p.m.; the high school, 12:45 p.m. Parents with safety concerns may contact the office of the school their child attends.

A 20-inch water main break in the South Center Street area is causing problems in the entire Bradford water system. A boil water advisory is in effect. Water Authority Executive Director Kim Benjamin says some areas have low to no pressure. Besides the boil water advisory, the water authority is asking for voluntary water use restrictions, too. Benjamin says he will keep us updated on developments.

Bradford Water Authority crews have been busy working on two water main breaks. An 8-inch water main break happened at about 6 p.m. Monday on North Kendall Avenue near the railroad tracks and the entrance to American Refining Group. That line was repaired at about 3 a.m., but crews from the railroad will be repairing damage for most of the day so North Kendall will remain closed until they are finished, according to water authority director Kim Benjamin. At about midnight, a 6-inch water main broke on Fiske Avenue between Parkway Lane and Stone Avenue. It was repaired at about 8 a.m. Benjamin says about half a dozen homes on Fiske Avenue were directly affected, and homes on Vista Avenue, Storm Circle and Orchard Place may have had disruptions as well. “The water in that area may be turbid for a bit,” Benjamin said, adding that the lines have been flushed but people may notice minor discoloration until it gets back to normal.
