A Kane man has pleaded guilty to indecent assault in connection to an incident in in Warren. 59-year-old Robert Moore had sexual contact with a woman without her consent on May 3 of last year. Two people are facing charges following a traffic stop July 31 in the Town of Almond. 25-year-old Kristopher Holtz of Shinglehouse is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. 39-year-old Raymond James of Olean is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. A Clarendon man has pleaded guilty to stealing scrap metal from a camp and then selling it to a metal recycling plant in New York State. In December 22-year-old Richard Madigan and another man stole the scrap metal and other metal items from the camp of Doris Lindell of Warren and then took it to New York. He pleaded to theft by unlawful taking. Charges of burglary, criminal conspiracy and criminal mischief were dismissed. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

Police are investigating a fraud case involving Kwik Fill and Red Apple stores. They say on June 11 a person went into the stores in Sugar Grove and Pittsfield and paid for nearly $700 worth of gift cards with a Visa Card. United Refining, which owns the stores, has since been notified that the Visa card had been terminated and the company would not be paying United Refining for the purchases. A Cyclone man is in jail for allegedly having sexual contact with a child younger than 16. 19-year-old Chad Yount is charged with felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors. Harrisburg, August 5, 2013 – Senator Jim Ferlo (D-Allegheny County) shared news from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (LCB) of record revenue and net income by the LCB stores in the Commonwealth. “Pennsylvania is second only to Texas in revenue from the sales of wine and spirits, and today’s news reinforces the success and staying power of our existing liquor sales structure. I was a champion for protecting and modernizing the Wine & Spirits Stores and the family-sustaining jobs they provide, and I’m encouraged to know of their continued achievements,” Ferlo said. The LCB revenues at Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores reached $2.17 billion in fiscal year 2012-13, a $93 million or 4.5 percent increase over FY 2011-12. The agency paid a record $512 million in sales tax, liquor tax and transfers to the General Fund, an increase of $18 million. A Kane man is accused of threatening to kill people at Kane Community Hospital and infect them with Hepatitis. Police were called to the hospital at 10:30 Saturday morning and found 39-year-old Richard Lewis threatening to kill the staff, and whipping his blood-covered hand trying to get the blood on the staff and police, according to papers filed in District Judge David Engman’s office. Lewis said he was positive for Hepatitis C and wanted to infect the staff and police. He allegedly threatened eight hospital staff members so he was charged with eight counts of terroristic threats. HARRISBURG, August 5, 2013 –State Sen. Daylin Leach (D-Montgomery/Delaware) today reintroduced a bill that would encourage consumers to shift away from using inefficient plastic shopping bags by imposing a $0.02 fee for each bag provided by a retail establishment. “Plastic shopping bags represent a disconnect in our consumer culture,” Leach said. “They are used for mere minutes, but can take a thousand years to degrade. They clutter our urban areas, contaminate our waterways, and kill more than one million birds and marine mammals each year.” Leach said. Leach noted that, of the $0.02 fee, one penny would be kept by retail establishments to improve their internal recycling practices, while the other penny would be returned to the Commonwealth to fund state recycling programs. A woman who forged two money orders in Ellicottville last fall will spend the next five years on probation and must pay restitution. 41-year-old Donna Liberatore of made the fake money orders on October 15. Liberatore is also facing charges in Niagara Falls where she allegedly stole customers’ credit card numbers while working at Metro Mattress and then made several thousand dollars’ worth of purchases there and at Mary Kay Cosmetics. A Great Valley man has pleaded guilty to having sexual contact with a child younger than 11. 58-year-old Paul Starks is charged with a felony count of course of sexual conduct against a child. He allegedly had indecent contact with the child between January of 2005 and March of this year in the Town of Great Valley. He is scheduled for sentencing on October 21. A trip to a computer repair shop ended up with a man being charged with child pornography. 69-year-old Larry Westfall is accused of looking at pornographic images of children. An Allegany man is charged with assault following an incident in village. State police say 37-year-old Allen Whitehead got into a fight with another person on First Street on Saturday. UPDATE 10/03/13: Charges dismissed Two people from Frewsburg, New York, are accused of stealing and then selling logs belonging to a Warren County man. Police say between June 19 and July 2 30-year-old Jessica Johnson and 41-year-old William Wilcox stole the logs, did more than $5,000 worth of damage to the property and sold the logs to a logging company for $1,900. They are charged with felony counts of agricultural vandalism and conspiracy to commit agricultural vandalism, as well as a number of counts of theft. Bobbi Jo "Bo" Austin, 48, of 3481 Route 646, Gifford, passed away, Saturday, August 3, 2013, in The Pavilion at BRMC. Born June 7, 1965, in Bradford she was a daughter of the late Robert E. and Erma "Billie" (Swackhamer) Austin. Ms. Austin was a 1982 graduate of Bradford High School. She was a member of the school's track team and her record still stands for the girls shot put. After high school she attended the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford Campus. She was a lifetime member and past treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 1619 in Olean, NY. She coached girls softball for the local youth league. She had been employed at Zippo Mfg. for 8 1/2 years and then as a truck driver for NBS Trucking and later JR Kay's Trucking. Surviving is a sister, Brenda Austin, of Cattaraugus, NY, two brothers, Martin G. Austin, and Douglas D. Austin, both of Bradford, and her loving caretaker Sharlene E. Forest Rangers and The New York State Police Aviation Division were among those searching for a man they thought was hiding in the woods after threatening his ex-wife. The man was found a week later, hiding in his ex-wife’s home. Troopers say 50-year-old Roman Gedz of Busti forced his way into his ex-wife’s vehicle on July 27 and demanded to be taken to her house. He also threatened her and damaged some of her property, including her telephone, when she tried calling police. The woman’s daughter was able to call 911, but when police arrived and searched the house they believed Gedz had run into the woods. This past Saturday, the woman went back to her house and noticed some items that were not there before and heard a noise upstairs. She left and called police. This time she told them there was a hidden crawl space on the second floor behind a closet. Troopers removed several large boxes and other items and found Gedz hiding in the crawl space. A 16-year-old Johnstown boy has been charged with starting a fire that destroyed three buildings at the Miracle Mountain Ranch in Warren County early Saturday morning. Police say the boy, whose name they have not released, purposely set fire to hay in each of the buildings. The fire was reported at 3 a.m. and destroyed the Critter Corral, the Mustangers and a livery shed and hay storage facility. Miracle Mountain is one of the country’s largest Christian horse camps. A 37-year-old woman is dead following a crash at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon in Cattaraugus County. Sheriff’s deputies say Tara Evert of Forestville was on County Line Road in Perrysburg when her SUV went off the road and into small ravine, where it hit a tree. Evert was taken by ambulance to Lakeshore Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police are continuing their investigation. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

A Kane man is in jail for stabbing another man in the stomach Saturday morning in Cyclone. Police say 36-year-old Kevin Callaway and 39-year-old Ronald McLaughlin Jr. of Emporium got into an argument at the home of McLaughlin’s mother in the Cyclone Trailer Park at just after 11:30 a.m. Calloway was asked to leave multiple times but wouldn’t, so McLaughlin jumped off the porch to confront him. Calloway then stabbed McLaughlin with a 4-inch knife. McLaughlin and his brother wrestled the knife away from Callaway. McLaughlin was treated at the scene by EMS personnel. Callaway headed toward Bradford and, with the help of City and Township police, troopers were able to take him into custody. Callaway was arraigned by District Judge David Engman and sent to McKean County Jail on $100,000 bail.

Arson has been determined as the cause of the fire that damaged buildings in the Ridgway Borough Maintenance facility last Friday. State Police fire marshal Greg Agosti says because people were in the area at the time it’s likely there are witnesses who may have seen someone start the fire. The fire was reported at just after 6 o’clock last Friday evening. Anyone who may have seen someone walking along South Street at around the that time is asked to contact Agosti at 776-6136 or Ridgway Borough Police at 773-5125.
