Fumo Sentenced to 55 Months

Former state Senator Vincent Fumo has been sentenced to 55 months in prison for his federal corruption conviction.

Following a 5-month trial, a jury of 10 women and two men found Fumo guilty of defrauding the state Senate and two nonprofits, tax violations and obstructing the FBI investigation.

The 66-year-old Democrat from Philadelphia was also fined $411,000 and ordered to pay restitution of $1 to the Senate and $676,000 to Citizens Alliance.

He reports to jail August 31.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
