One Million Cups of Coffee at Tops

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – Tops Friendly Markets and Tim Hortons today announced that one million cups of fresh-brewed Tim Hortons coffee have been sold inside of Tops stores during the first year of the Tops and Tim Hortons strategic partnership, which brought full-service Tim Hortons restaurants and self-serve kiosks to all Tops full-service supermarkets and Tops Express locations.

Tops today honored Art Steele of Hamburg, NY who purchased the one-millionth cup of coffee inside the Tops Friendly Markets location on S. 6150 South Park Ave. in Hamburg, NY. Mr. Steele was awarded a prize package including Tops and Tim Hortons items, and a Buffalo Sabres Ultimate Fan Pack, including a limo ride, dinner, and tickets to an upcoming game.

“We are very pleased with the overwhelming success of this partnership because it has been a real win-win for our customers, Tops and Tim Hortons, as we knew it would be,” said Frank Curci, Tops’ president and CEO. “The joining together of two locally prominent and strong and growing brands inside of our stores has enhanced our customers one-stop shopping experience.”

“We are also pleased that the one-millionth cup was purchased at one of our strongest performing stores on S. Park Avenue in Hamburg, where a great group of associates and managers provide excellent value and customer service to shoppers in Hamburg and the southtowns everyday,” Curci added.

In celebration of the one-year anniversary of the partnership between Tops and Tim Hortons, Tops also kicked off a promotion whereby every time a customer purchases a Tim Hortons product inside any Tops location using their BonusCard, they’re automatically entered to win a Sabres Ultimate Fan Pack including four tickets to a Sabres game, a limo ride and dinner at the Harbour Club, as well as free Tim Hortons coffee for a year. The promotion will run until January 2, 2010.

The Tim Hortons restaurants in Tops locations feature the area’s favorite premium coffee and other beverages, fresh baked goods and the popular breakfast sandwich. Tim Hortons self serve locations offer freshly ground, one cup at a time coffee, cappuccino and espresso based drinks and a variety of Tim Hortons baked goods.

Through a partnership created in October 2008, there are 14 full-service Tim Hortons restaurants in Tops stores across Western and Central New York and northwestern Pennsylvania. Each of the 62 other Tops and Tops Xpress locations have a self-service kiosk.
