Man Pleads Not Guilty to Stealing Smokes

A Bradford man accused of breaking into a truck loaded with cigarettes has pleaded not guilty in Cattaraugus County Court, according to a fax sent to WESB and The HERO by the district attorneys office.

27-year-old Phillip Haight is accused of using bolt cutters to break into a truck owned by Al Harris Associates in Salamanca. The value of the cigarettes is more than $4,100, according to the District Attorney's office.

Haight is charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree grand larceny and possession of burglar’s tools.

The matter has been adjourned for motions.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
