McKean, Cattaraugus Counties
Participating in Drug Take Back Program

PA CleanWays of McKean County and the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department are participating in the federal Drug Enforcement Agency’s “National Drug Take Back Program.”

In McKean County, people can take unwanted medications to the Penn State Extension Office in Smethport from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

In Cattaraugus County, people can go to the county office building parking lot in Olean, and the Salamanca or Gowanda municipal buildings from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

No pre-registration is necessary. The agencies are holding the drug take back program because people are flushing the drugs down the toilet, and they’re showing up in water sources, and because of the increase in illegal use of prescription medications by young people.
