Mans Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter

A Sheridan man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection to the shooting death of another man in October of last year.

54-year-old Thomas Rell had been indicted on charges of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide for shooting and killing Alan Kilburn in his home on October 17, 2010.

Rell shot Kilburn while showing him defensive military maneuvers with an older model military-style rifle.

According to the terms of a plea deal, Rell will be sentenced to 2 to 6 years in state prison when he goes before the court on February 6.
