No Kinzua Outdoor & Travel Show in 2012
The annual Kinzua Outdoor and travel show will not be held in 2012, due to logistical issues.
The show has been held in the former Ames store at the Bradford Mall but a Tractor Supply store is reportedly moving into the space.
In place of KOTS, the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce is working on plans for two new events for 2012. The first will be expansion of the Non-Profit Summit held this fall, and it will include presentations, roundtable discussions and more. It’s tentatively scheduled for March.
For-profit businesses and organizations will have the chance to share their products and services with the local and surrounding communities as part of the 2012 BACC Member Expo.
Chamber members will be able to reserve exhibitor space suitable to their needs to display their retail products and/or information on the services they provide. Chamber members will be receiving more details on the BACC Member Expo through the Chamber News and direct mailings.
Here's what else the chamber has in store for 2012:
The popular Business After Hours Series will return in 2012, with eight different events throughout the year, including a joint event with the Kane, Smethport, and Warren Chambers. Business After Hours events give the business and professional community an opportunity to come together in a relaxed, social setting for networking. Refreshments are included, and each event includes a business card drawing for attendees to win prizes donated by the hosts. Business After Hours are free and open to all area businesses and organizations.
New in 2012 will be a morning variation of Business After Hours, Coffee and Conversation. Coffee and Conversation sessions will be held in April and August, and will include a brief informational presentation about the benefits of Chamber membership, along with a light continental breakfast. Current, new, and prospective Chamber members are invited to attend to learn more about what the Chamber has to offer, as well as enjoy this relaxed networking opportunity.
Also new in 2012 will be an educational BACC Brown Bag Series. BACC Brown Bag workshops will be offered six times during the year, and feature special presentations by selected individuals from the local business and professional community. Presentations will be targeted toward successful business strategies, local areas of interest, and more. Each BACC Brown Bag event, held at the Chamber of Commerce office, will include dessert, coffee, and a door prize drawing.
A first-ever VIP Member Breakfast and Luncheon is planned for February of 2012. These new Chamber events, offered at two different times of the day to accommodate prospective members’ scheduling needs, will feature testimonials by current Chamber members. A brief member benefit presentation will accompany a full breakfast or lunch. Individuals or businesses who become members during this event will receive a special thank-you gift, courtesy of the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce.
The BACC Annual Meeting and Awards will once again be held in April of 2012 at the Pennhills Club in Bradford. This annual event is an opportunity for members to be updated on the current state of the Chamber, and celebrate the achievements of this year’s award winners. Annual awards for the Exemplary Business and Community & Spirit categories will be presented, along with honors for new Century Club members.
Other annual events which will be offered by the Chamber include the Legislative Luncheon, which features the opportunity for individuals and businesses to pose their questions and concerns to local elected officials. Featuring a buffet luncheon and moderated question and answer session, the Legislative Luncheon will feature officials from the local, county, state, and federal levels.
The Summer Soiree will also return to the BACC event schedule, with 2012 being the fifth year it is held. The Soiree features a unique menu, beverages, music by local artists Take 3, and the 200 Club, one of the Chamber’s primary fundraisers. 200 Club prizes include twenty-seven cash awards, ranging from $100 to the grand prize of $1000. The Soiree is guaranteed to be an evening of fun and relaxing networking for all who attend.
Returning to the Chamber’s calendar after a successful start in 2011 will be the Welcome Back, Pitt! Downtown Hunt. A great opportunity for downtown merchants and businesses to help make the university student population aware of what they have to offer, the Downtown Hunt had a good response in its first trial. The Chamber looks forward to building on the event for 2012 and offering additional prizes and entertainment as incentives for the student participants.
The featured fall event on the Chamber’s calendar will once again be the Oktoberfest: 20th Annual Public Auction, held at the Bradford Club. Oktoberfest is the Chamber’s largest fundraiser throughout the year, and includes live, silent, and bucket auctions, on-air radio auctions, and more. A festive German and traditional menu along with fun Oktoberfest décor and lively auction activity make the Oktoberfest: Annual Auction an event not to miss! In addition to the Oktoberfest auctions, as requested by past participants, a spring on-air or media auction may also be offered, featuring a small assortment of approximately ten to fifteen different auction packages.
