Change of Venire Hearing Next Week

Judge John Cleland has scheduled a hearing for next Friday to consider the state attorney general’s office motion to bring in a jury from another county in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case.

The AG’s office says pre-trial publicity and the close ties the community has with Penn State would make it impossible for a jury from Centre County to be fair.

Sandusky is accused of abusing 10 boys over a 15-year period while he was an assistant football coach at Penn State. He denies the allegations.

Sandusky’s legal team has until Wednesday to file an answer to the change of venire motion, according to Cleland’s order that was issued Thursday afternoon.

Another hearing is scheduled for next Friday. In that, Cleland will decide whether Sandusky can see his grandchildren, which he currently cannot do as terms of his bail.
