UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 85-year-old Alfred Rudd

UPDATE: One man is dead after apparently suffering a heart attack during a fire in his Olean home this morning.

Firefighters say they found the man about 10 feet from a window in an upstairs bedroom and he was in cardiac arrest. After getting him out of the burning house paramedics tried to resuscitate him. He was taken by ambulance to Olean General Hospital, where he later died.

His name hasn’t been released because authorities have not been able to contact his family.

The fire started at around 6:40 this morning and did about $30,000 worth of damage to the building owned by Linda Bartlett of Olean, and also melted vinyl siding on a house next door.
