'Safety Concern' in Smethport Resolved
Smethport schools are not on lockdown and everything is “back to normal” after officials became aware of a rumor about a former teacher, according to district superintendent Charles Leasure.
He tells WESB that they heard a rumor about a former teacher making threats which was, of course, a “safety concern.” Because of that they decided to have a police presence at the school this morning. But, he said, the situation has been resolved.
He stressed that the schools were never on lockdown, but they do take all threats against the school district seriously.
Leasure said the homecoming parade and game will be going on as scheduled.
