Cole Memorial Recognized by Joint Commission

Today Cole Memorial was named one of the nation's Top Performers on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. Cole Memorial was recognized by The Joint Commission for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children's asthma, stroke and venous thromboembolism, as well as inpatient psychiatric services. New this year is a category for immunization for pneumonia and influenza.

Cole Memorial is one of 1,099 hospitals in the U.S. earning the distinction of Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. Cole Memorial was recognized for its achievement on the following measure sets: Surgical care and pneumonia prevention. The ratings are based on an aggregation of accountability measure data reported to The Joint Commission during the 2012 calendar year and represents 33 percent of all Joint Commission-accredited hospitals reporting data for 2012.

This is the second year in a row that Cole Memorial is being recognized as a Top Performer. Last year, the Hospital was recognized by The Joint Commission for its achievement for the same measure sets.

“While we celebrate the honors from various organizations that monitor healthcare performance, Cole Memorial is focused on continuous learning and improvement. We have turned our attention to gathering and impacting measures of health throughout the communities we serve and we are transforming our health system to prevent disease while continuing to treat it,” said Ed Pitchford, president and CEO of Cole Memorial. “So, we are pleased that The Joint Commission has again recognized us and we are confident that we will continue these successes on the path of improving the lives of those who entrust their health to us.”
