Chronic Wasting Disease Near DuBois
Chronic Wasting Disease has been found in at least one deer on a farm about five miles west of DuBois.
The state Department of Agriculture says a 5-year-old deer that died on the Reynoldsville farm tested positive for CWD, and now the farm is under quarantine.
Deer legally may not be moved on or off the property, and the ongoing investigation may lead to additional farms being quarantined.
Chronic Wasting Disease is always fatal, and attacks the brains of deer, elk, moose and other antlered animals.
