Speeding Leads to More Than Ticket

Speeding on Route 219 in Ashford led to more than a traffic ticket for a Cheektowaga woman.

Sheriff’s deputies stopped 33-year-old Amy Bednarek at about 10:15 Saturday morning and, while speaking to her, smelled marijuana. They soon found the marijuana, a glass pipe and a Valium tablet. Her passenger, 31-year-old Aaron Hegge, also of Cheektowaga, had marijuana with him as well.

During the search of the vehicle deputies saw that the car seat Bednarek’s one-year-old daughter was in was not secured to anything.

Bednarek is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and improper restraint of a child younger than four. She was also issued a couple of court appearance tickets. Hegge was issued a ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana.
