Hulu Views: Pam & Tommy

I started watching “Pam & Tommy” because I love Lily James and will watch her in just about anything. I'm not sure I would have watched it, though, had I known Pamela Anderson was not on board. (My bad. I should have done the research.)

Three episodes in, and my negative feelings about Tommy Lee have grown stronger and I've developed a few more. Although, so far, Sebastian Stan is playing him as mostly fun-loving and love-struck he still comes off as a disgusting pig as far as I'm concerned. In episode two he has a conversation with his legendary **** about falling in love with Pam. Rather than being funny, it was disturbing when the **** talked to him (and moved) and reminded him about Heather (Locklear) and others who he also thought were his true loves.

So far, the story is centering on the events leading up to the stealing and release of the infamous sex tape including the reasoning behind Rand Gauthier's theft of the tape, albeit inadvertently (Lee was a jerk.); Pam & Tommy's four-day courtship leading up to their on-the-beach wedding (he was a persistent ass, in my opinion); and Gauthier's back story as a porn actor, as well as how he figured out a way to sell the tape without Anderson's and Lee's consent.

From what I've read, the rest of the story centers on their not consenting to the release of the tape, which makes the fact that Anderson did not want any part of this project ironic. It's like using and abusing her all over again.

I probably would not watch the rest of the series if I hadn't read that James was concerned about her portrayal of Anderson, and Anderson's feelings. This is an excerpt from and indiewire.com interview with James:

Do you think society is ready to admit our culpability in what happened with Pamela Anderson during this time?

I’m glad you use the word “culpability” because that was very much our intention with the show was to hold a mirror up to make people look at their own culpability in perpetuating this unhealthy viral internet behavior. We are all complicit and we have to become more aware and sensitive.

Maybe I'm rationalizing, but that's why I'm allowing myself to keep watching, although I know I'll get angry at the parts where Lee is put on a pedestal and Anderson is slut-shamed because of the same tape.
