Police are investigating a burglary and several acts of criminal mischief in Potter County. They say sometime between December 12 and Friday someone broke into Robert Evans’ hunting camp and stole numerous DVDs, fireworks, a machete, a circular saw and a chain saw. The camp is on Wright Road in Hector Township. Between January 26 and Saturday someone shot a BB gun at Ronald Bush’s camp in Oswayo. Between October 1 and Friday someone damaged maple syrup signs on property belonging to Terry Stanley on a private road near Dry Run Creek. Sometime between 9 o’clock Saturday night and 7 o’clock Sunday morning someone cut down a sign belonging to James Baker on Fishing Creek Road in Roulette Township. A Coudersport woman will be cited for hitting a man in the head with a pack of baby wipes. Police say 21-year-old Katelyn Miller hit 31-year-old Jeremy Earl while they were at his house in Austin at about 4:30 Sunday afternoon. Miller will be cited for harassment. Tasha Lynn Campbell, 22, of 460 Main Street, Limestone, passed away, Tuesday, April 22, 2014, in Philadelphia. Born April 30, 1991, in Olean, she, was a daughter of Leigh (Campbell) Higgins of North Carolina and Shannon E. Shroyer, of Bradford who survive. Tasha attended Allegany-Limestone High School and was a student at Everest University. She had worked for several local businesses and was currently working at The Connection call center. She loved hanging out with her friends and was a social butterfly. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping and all things of nature. She loved being around big horses, but the tiniest mouse would send her screaming, nor was she a fan of roosters, bats, or seaweed. Her fun loving spirit and sparkling blue eyes where just a few of the things we all loved about her. A Bradford man is accused of intentionally hitting a parked vehicle to keep his wife from getting out of his moving Jeep. Andrew Petrov and his wife Dawn were on their way back from the Westline leek festival and were arguing. Dawn opened the door and attempted to get out of the Jeep, but Andrew hit a vehicle owned by Mike Schreiber that was parked in front of 45 Main Street, doing significant damage, according to court papers. A witness called police. Petrov drove home but had left again before police got there. He was arraigned today on charges of criminal mischief, accidents involving death or personal injury, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault. He’s free on unsecured bail. A Bradford man is accused of raping a woman late Sunday night in Westline. 25-year-old Matthew Orris is described in court papers as the on-again off-again boyfriend of the victim. She says she contacted him at about 10 o’clock Sunday asked for a ride home from her friend’s camp. She says they had to take back roads because the main road was closed because of the fatal accident investigation. She says during the drive Orris was irritated with her because she hadn’t texted him since Wednesday. At one point he stopped the pickup truck, she got out and started to walk away, but he pulled her back to the truck and raped her. Orris told police the sex was consensual. Police say a medical exam and evidence from the truck are consistent with the victim’s statement. Orris is charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with forcible compulsion and indecent assault. He’s in McKean County Jail on $50,000 bail. Arson is the cause of a fire at an unoccupied South Avenue house Saturday morning. The fire at 64 South Avenue was reported at about 9:30 a.m. Damage was minimal and was limited to a small area on the first floor of the two-story house. The building has been unoccupied for a substantial period of time. Authorities do not know who owns the house. State police fire marshal Greg Agosti is investigating and asks anyone with information on the fire to contact him or City of Bradford Police. Agosti also asks area residents to contact police if they see any suspicious activity around vacant or abandoned buildings. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

A Cuba, New York, woman is dead following a motorcycle crash on Westline Road Sunday afternoon, and her husband is in jail on a DUI charge. Police say the motorcycle operated by 50-year-old Raymond Maedl Jr. went out of control while rounding a curve and hit a guide rail. 50-year-old Jeanie Maedl was thrown from the bike, and into the guide rail. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Raymond Maedl was arraigned early this morning on charges of DUI, disregarding a traffic lane and careless driving. His bail is $50,000. In observance of the National Day of Prayer, Prayer in the Square will be held on Thursday, May 1, noon in Veterans Square, Bradford. The public is warmly invited to join clergy, public officials, and representatives of the fire and police departments in praying for the city, leaders and the nation. The event is estimated to last 45 minutes to accommodate lunch hour guests. In the event of inclement weather, it will be moved to Grace Lutheran Church, Mechanic Street. The event is in response to an invitation from the National Day of Prayer Task Force. The Task Force is a non-profit organization based in Colorado Springs, CO. There are more than 40,000 prayer gatherings taking place from coast to coast at a variety of venues and locations during the noon hour in each of our countries time zones. McKean County Coroner Mike Cahill is looking for information on any known relatives of 79-year-old Baby J. Whatmore of Bradford, who died of natural causes in her home on April 17. She may also be known as Rose Mercer. She may have a twin sister and may have come to the area from the Ohio or Chicago areas. A Forest County man was found with a bug zapper in his pants. No, that’s not the beginning of a joke. A 25-year-old Endeavor man, who police did not name, went into Dave’s Dollar Plus in Tionesta on April 16, put the $5 bug zapper in his pants and then left the store. A Derrick City man is facing charges after being stopped on Interstate 80 near DuBois with a load of contaminated food. Police say 19-year-old Ezekeil Groff was driving a commercial vehicle for McKean Transport of Derrick City and transporting seafood, yogurt, and other dairy products. An inspection of the vehicle revealed that the food was not on a shipping order and was being shipped at an unsafe temperature. Police destroyed the food and are continuing their investigation. Police are investigating an attempted burglary in Coudersport. They say someone tried to get into the front door and window of 46-year-old Jarett Smith's home. The incident happened sometime before 5 and 5:45 Wednesday afternoon. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

A 42-year-old Eldred man was attacked early this morning on Main Street in the borough. Police say the man suffered a broken nose in the attack at 1:30 a.m. He was not able to give a description of the two people who attacked him. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

A Bradford man who had sexual contact with a 7-year-old will spend the next three to eight years in state prison. 60-year-old George Roach was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court. He pleaded guilty to indecent assault for having inappropriate contact with the child while he was babysitting her last May. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

The Kane woman accused of driving under the influence of prescription medication in a crash that killed six people – including her daughter and nephew – has pleaded not guilty in McKean County Court. 37-year-old Kathleen Douglas is charged with six counts of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence of a controlled substance, as well as dozens of related offenses. Police say on August 31 her vehicle crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Route 219 and Meade Run Road. Her 12-year-old daughter, Olivia Douglas and 6-year-old nephew Jarrett Costanzo were killed. Four St. Marys residents in the other car, Gary Beimel, Elaine Beimel, David Cuneo and Florence Donachy, were also killed. Douglas and her 10-year-old son were seriously injured and she spent several months in a hospital and nursing home. She is now in prison in Cambridge Springs on $750,000 bail. City of Bradford Police Chief Chris Lucco, along with Frank Williams and Stoney Greenburg, participated in the Bradford YWCA's inaugural Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event to raise awareness about sexual assault. More than 100 walkers made their way down Main Street to Veterans Square for a recognition ceremony, a proclamation from Mayor Tom Riel and other festivities, includiing a band. A man originally charged with nearly 900 offenses related to sexually abusing a girl for 10 years has pleaded no contest to aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors in McKean County Court. 65-year-old Gordon Link of Port Allegany is accused of sexually assaulting the girl repeatedly from the time she was 5 until she turned 15.
